New Yorkers eat frequently at restaurants, probably,  a billion times each year!!!, (imagine the volume of restaurant industry and the money involved).   In July 2010, the Health Department made mandatory for restaurants in all five boroughs to post letter grades conveying their sanitary inspection scores. It would solve three purposes:

1) It could help customers to know the sanitary condition of restaurant in a very simple way.

2) to make restaurants aware of  sanitary practices.

3) to reduce food borne related illnesses.  ( source, New York Government)
